I named this piece the Mermaid Choker because of the way that one small pearl falls from the center. It always makes me think of the little mermaid from the old stories — gentle, clear-hearted, quietly brave. There’s something very pure about the way it hangs there, like a thought that hasn’t been spoken yet.

The line of pearls that sits around the neck is so fine and even that, at first glance, it reminds me of the horizon where the sea meets the sky. That thin border you stare at from the shore — close enough to see, too far to touch. Soft, simple, and a little bit unreal.

When it’s worn, it has this feeling of being both girl and princess at the same time. Not the kind of princess in a big ballroom, but the quiet kind: someone standing by a window, hair still damp from the sea, wearing something small and beautiful that only she really notices.

That’s the mood I had in mind when I made it — a line of pearls like the edge of the world, and one single drop of light, hanging there like a mermaid’s heart.

• No two pieces will ever look exactly the same as the photos — every pearl has its own shape, glow, and quiet personality. The one that finds its way to you will be the only one of its kind — a small treasure meant for no one else.

Care Instructions

• Try to keep your pearls away from chemicals and prolonged sunlight exposure. Pearls are organic gemstones — with improper storage, they may gradually lose their natural glow.

• When cleaning, use a soft cloth instead of tissues or paper-based wipes. A pearl’s shine comes from the continuity of its reflective surface, and hard fibers can create micro-scratches that interrupt that smooth reflection. Keeping the surface unbroken is key to preserving its brightness.

• Please check your clasps and pearl thread from time to time. Even though we use high-quality Japanese silk thread, all pearl strings naturally wear with use — usually after 4–5 years.
