How We Define Our Grades — In Words That Actually Mean Something
At Alya Pearl, our AAAAA-grade pearls are selected for three uncompromising qualities: high luster, round shape, and flawless surface — the kind of pearls that glow even in soft indoor light.
Our AAAA-grade strands are created differently.
We carefully balance luster, shape, and natural surface marks to choose the pearls that make the most sense for the price you’re paying. Most pieces in this range are high-luster and near-round, with any tiny flaws kept at a “social distance” so they’re not noticeable when worn. It’s our favorite sweet spot for everyday wear and great value.

A Note on Larger Pearls (10mm and Above)
Larger pearls are more rare, and they naturally tend to have more surface textures — tiny pits, subtle growth lines, or small marks. Because of this, maintaining flawless 5A quality in 10–12mm pearls is extremely difficult.
Also, pearl pricing climbs steeply with size — even a single millimeter can create a significant jump in value.
To give you a sense of scale: a true 5A which almost means perfect, 11–12mm strand would start at $1,500+, following market rarity.
Our prices are intentionally lower because we want larger pearls to remain accessible — so for these sizes, we hand-select the best-quality pearls within the price you paid.(They might be High luster, round and almost flawless.)

2025 Market Note — A Small Update From the Farm
Pearl prices move in cycles. From 2022–2024, smaller sizes (under 6mm) were unusually expensive, while 7–9mm remained stable.
This year, the trend reversed. 7–9mm pearls have surged in price, which is why this category has been adjusted.
For best value in 2025, we recommend:
- small-size non-nucleated pearls (brilliant glow, soft roundness)
- large-size Edison pearls (Will always keep it's value)
