Everything you need to know about our Golden South Sea Pearl Jewelry.

 Golden South Sea Pearl FAQs

1. Are golden South Sea pearls naturally golden?

Yes—the golden South Sea cultured pearls we sell have natural, undyed color. They are grown in gold-lipped Pinctada maxima oysters. “Natural color” describes the pearl’s color, while “cultured” means its growth was initiated and cared for by pearl farmers. gia

2. Where do your golden South Sea pearls come from?

Our golden South Sea pearls come from the Philippines and Indonesia. We select pearls for their luster, color, surface quality, and suitability for our designs. One of our sourcing batches, received in July 2026, came from Lombok, Indonesia.

3. Why are golden South Sea pearls expensive, and why do prices vary?

Their cultivation requirements and limited supply of high-quality pearls contribute to their value. Even at the same size, pearls can differ in luster, color, surface quality, and shape. Matching, the setting metal, and the work involved in making the jewelry also affect the finished price. SSEF

4. Are darker golden pearls always better?

Not necessarily. In my buying experience, rich gold often costs more when other qualities are comparable, but a darker pearl is not automatically the better choice. Champagne gold and gold with green overtones can be just as appealing to wear. I recommend choosing color alongside luster and personal preference.

5. How are golden South Sea pearls different from golden freshwater pearls?

They are different pearl types, grown in different mollusks and environments. Freshwater pearls can have natural yellowish colors, but dyed freshwater pearls can also imitate South Sea gold. The word “golden” alone does not confirm pearl type or natural color. gia

6. How can I check whether a golden South Sea pearl is genuine?

Check the stated pearl type, treatment disclosure, and accompanying laboratory report. Appearance alone cannot reliably establish whether a pearl’s color is natural. We provide laboratory documentation with our golden pearl jewelry; contact us to confirm the report available for a particular piece. gia

7. What size golden South Sea pearl should I choose?

For a first purchase, I usually suggest 12–13 mm for a pendant, 9–12 mm for earrings or rings, and 9–11 mm for a pearl strand. These are starting points, not rules. Choose a size that feels comfortable and suits the occasions when you plan to wear it.

8. What should I look for in a good-quality golden pearl?

I look at luster first, followed by surface quality, shape, and color. For earrings and necklaces, I also consider how the pearls look together. Our online selection ranges from flawless to very slightly blemished, with the specific surface description provided on each product page.

9. Are small blemishes normal on South Sea pearls?

Yes. Small surface characteristics are common, and their effect depends on size, location, and visibility. We select flawless to very slightly blemished pearls for our online jewelry. We do not use pearls with cracks or conspicuous surface defects in this collection. gia

10. Can I wear golden South Sea pearl jewelry every day?

Our online designs are intended for everyday styling, but pearls need gentle care. Remove them before swimming, showering, or exercising, and avoid contact with perfume and cleaning products. Wipe them with a soft cloth after wearing and store them separately in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box. gia

11. Will I receive the exact pearl shown in the product photos?

Our product photos show examples of designs we have made, often using pearls that have already sold. Your pearl will be selected for the same design and its listed specifications. We match the pictured color and luster as closely as possible, but individual pearls will have natural differences.

12. Does your golden South Sea pearl jewelry come with a certificate?

Yes. Most pieces come with a GRC laboratory certificate. Selected higher-quality pearls may have a PSL or GUILD report. The information covered depends on the report type, so please contact us before purchasing when a particular laboratory or assessment is important to you.

13. What metals are used in your golden pearl jewelry?

Our settings are made from 925 sterling silver or 18K gold, depending on the design. Some sterling silver settings have 18K gold plating. Check the product description for the exact metal and finish, and contact us before ordering with any known metal sensitivities.

14. Is a chain included with a golden pearl pendant?

Yes. Our golden South Sea pearl pendants include a complimentary silver chain. A gold chain is not included in the pendant price. Please contact us by email to discuss purchasing a gold chain instead.

15. Can I choose my pearl or request a custom design?

Yes. Contact us through Instagram at @alyapearls or WhatsApp to discuss pearl selection and a custom design. Depending on the piece, we can discuss size, color, matching, and setting options. Making usually takes around 7–15 days; this is a production estimate, not a delivery timeframe.
